The following briefly outlines the features you will be taught on the beginners' course.
Day 1
- Introduction to the recurve bow and protective equipment.
- Safety aspects including whistles and verbal signals.
- Warming up.
- Barebow shooting demonstration followed by barebow shooting session (with individual coaching).
- Shooting demonstration with sights followed by shooting session with sights (with individual coaching).
- De-stringing a bow.
Day 2
- Stringing a bow.
- Shooting session.
- Retrieving and scoring arrows.
- Demonstration of types of bows and accessories.
- Discussion of types of archery.
- Shooting session.
Day 3
- Rules of etiquette.
- Set up of GNAS (Grand National Archery Society)/Archery GB.
- Explanation of running of tournaments.
- Beginners' Tournament.
- Presentation of tournament medals and course certificates.
